In few words…

Le partenariat Comenius 2011-2013 “Des hommes entre terre et mer, d’hier à demain” a relié pendant plus de deux années cinq établissements de zones littorales : du nord au sud d’une « grande Europe », l’école Muusap Atuarfia  de Saattut, dans le fjord d’Uummannaq au Groenland, l’école Radalslien Skole de Bergen en Norvège, le Collège André Malraux de Granville  en France , le Colegio Miralba de Vigo en Espagne et l’École Professionnelle Atlântico de Funchal, sur l’île de Madère au Portugal.

Dans une perspective d’éducation au développement durable, les élèves et les enseignants ont travaillé à de nombreux travaux intermédiaires (pôle scientifique ou humanités)  pour arriver à trois réalisations communes. On peut pour la plupart les retrouver sur le site conçu autour du projet : https://ccttcomenius.wordpress.com. Il s’agit principalement, élaborés par la jeunesse d’aujourd’hui, d’un jeu de cartes multilingue pour un lexique «  autour de la terre,  la mer et la ville », des brochures touristiques des cinq sites dans toutes les langues du projet, et de cinq maquettes de sa ville-port idéale en 2050. “Penser global, réfléchir ensemble, agir local”, tels étaient les mots qui avaient été choisis lors des premiers pas.

Aves cinq rendez-vous internationaux, ce sont au final 87 jeunes et 34 adultes qui sont allés à la rencontre de leurs pairs vers d’autres communautés côtières étrangères. Pas moins de 650 élèves ont travaillé sur les thèmes pédagogiques et environ 60 professionnels de l’éducation ont été impliqués dans les diverses actions. Au-delà de l’école, plus de 120 familles européennes ou inuits ont aussi fait, par le voyage ou par l’accueil,  la riche expérience de «  limer sa cervelle contre celle d’autrui ». Si les initiateurs du projet avaient tenu à donner une grande part matérielle aux travaux, avec avant tout la sensibilisation à l’environnement naturel et culturel, nul doute que la révolution numérique aura permis d’aller bien au-delà et que de nombreux liens se sont tissés au cours de ces deux années, pour une nouvelle communauté, « unie, avec ses points communs et sa grande diversité ».

 

The Comenius partnership“Coastal Communities in the Tides of Time” gathered five schools from littoral zones for two years. From the North to the South of Europe, the schools of Saatut (Muusap Atuarfia  School, Uummannaq Fjord, Greenland), Bergen, (Radalslien Skole, Norway), (Collège André Malraux, Granville, France), Vigo (Colegio Miralba, Spain), Funchal (l’École Professionnelle Atlântico, Portugal) worked together.

With educational and sustainable development concerns in mind, students and teachers worked on numerous intermediary assignments (in sciences or humanities) to achieve three projects. They can be found on the dedicated website: https://ccttcomenius.wordpress.com. It  encompasses a multilingual card game focusing on the vocabulary of maritime urban landscapes;  and touristic brochures for the five cities which are  available in the five languages spoken in the schools taking part in the project. The website also shows five models depicting a utopian vision of the future port-cities in 2050. The motto of the project was ‘thing global, think together, act locally’.

In total 87 students and 34 adults met during five international meetings, fostering exchange of ideas, knowledge and living experiences. The project involved 650 students who studied the themes of urbanity and sustainable development. Around 60 educational personnel were involved in diverse actions. Beyond the engagement of schools, more than 120 European and Inuit families participated, either by travelling or welcoming students. Their dedication and kindness helped make the project a success by sharing their lifestyles, their houses and their thoughts. The project was very much embedded in a material framework with the ambition to focus on the natural and cultural environment of selected European communities. However, the use of internet and of various social media platforms helped tremendously in creating durable and sustainable relationships between these five different communities. It helped build a new form of enlarged European community: a community united in its common features and in its diversity.

Uummannaq – tuesday 16th

We left Saattut yesterday , to Uummannaq island for the first step way back.

It could happen, and it does happen now : snow, flights delated.

We would like to be home but we are happy for all of those here who wanted snow.

As for us, we will have to deal with it, nature is nature.

Saattut, the 13th of April.

” We would have never thought that it could have been so far”,  ” We all learned so much about and from each others during those wo years”; here what we heard last night, here what we all think.

Thank you so much, here and everywhere else,  to all of those who had beleive in this project and who had work on it or helpt it growing up. You can not imagine what we feel and see here.

Thank you so much for the wonferful way we have been hosted here. We will never forget this Saattut ‘s week. After work,last night diner was also such a great moment with all this traditionnal food and … that’s not all folk!

Today ? Free day for each of us, with hosting family; sorry for my english, it’s getting late; show must go on !

Meeting 5 / Friday the 12th April

This morning we visited the locale water factory, where they produce about 50 000 liters each day. They pump water from the sea through a filter several times before warming it up. Most of the water is used by the fish factory.

Later in the afternoon we had a presentation for the rest of the students. We talked about how we thought Bergen will look like in 2050. The tree present delegations showed what the pupils have done and it was very interesting to sea and understand how young pupils imagine their harbor in 2050 : for example, for Saattut  the main idea was for example to build two large walls to protect the harbor from heavy sea in winter, in Bergen and Granville, you can find tramway in the main street of both city ; thanks to technologies, we could have a look of what Vigo and Funchal preview. A synthesis coming next on this blog, but you can already see a lot of the work here, and on the facebook page.

Tonight we are invited for dinner at school were we will eat Greenlandic food; reindeer and soup of fish, and this week-end, we will have activities whit our hostes befor going back to Uummannaq on monday, and Copenhagen on tuesday.
